A prolonged standoff suddenly erupted in catastrophe, killing 76 members of the sect and a quartet of federal agents. This reconstruction, highly critical of the government's intervention and subsequent rationalizations, was compiled by William Gazecki, Dan and Amy Sommer, and Mike McNulty.
